Once upon a time a dream was conceived, and a great voyage was planned.
The men, who had this dream, were following a vision that broke away from the conventions and familiarities of their society. So unusual was their endeavor, that many had assumed that they’d gone completely mad however these courageous men defiantly set out to realize their vision, no matter the cost.
Anselmo of Aragon was a friend who had been involved in the planning of the voyage and also shared the dream, but his wife begged him: “Don't go! Stay! Let those fools waste their time alone! You have your house, your family and a good job here in the city council!” Anselmo remained at home and missed the voyage, the voyage that was to discover America with Christopher Columbus. Now the world can laugh about Anselmo’s missed opportunity, and ironically even his own wife mocked him till the end of his life.
"The secret to happiness is freedom, and the secret to freedom is courage" wrote Pericles, observing life in the state of his ancient Athens. With regards to human nature, nothing has changed since the days of Columbus or Pericles. A yearning for freedom is innate to all of us. What people often lack however, is the courage to muster it up. For this reason, most people never discover their America. But for those who remain faithful to their dreams, our company offers an inspiration and a embodied beginning on their way to achieve their goals. We have sought out gifted and motivated people for our team, whom possess their own initiative and desire to create something extraordinary.
Stefan Brandt recommends to the committee of DEUTSCHER AKADEMISCHER AUSTAUSCHDIENST DAAD (German Service of Academic Exchange) a new methodology of awarding post-doctorate scholarships. Young scientists are allowed the opportunity to acquire life-skills, for example by doing research in a South American provincial university, instead of being sent “from one high-tech laboratory to the next”. Stefan Brandt receives his proposed post-doc scholarship and moves from the Max Planck-Institute in Stuttgart, Germany to the University of Cartagena, Colombia.
Stefan Brandt makes friends with leading professionals in the Colombian and Ecuadorian textile industry and starts a joint venture with a manufacturer in Quito, Ecuador.
BOXER SHORTS "BOYZ"
From its inception, this product made from a premium all-natural enka-viscose fabric from Germany was recognized and produced as a high-end product for a renowned international label.
The company’s label “BOYZ” becomes the most widely sold brand of boxers in Ecuador, according to a market study carried out by UTE (Technical University of Ecuador, 1996). In Colombia, BOYZ becomes a prestigious brand on the fashion scene (BOYZ BY RÄTHZEL, Bogotá).
First collection of T’s for men is launched
The first T-Shirt collection made to a supreme "double rip" standard goes on sale in Germany under the BOYZ label and incorporates its now legendary quality characteristics. The T-shirts are made of super combed Egyptian cotton and have a high density, high elasticity and extraordinary form stability.
A "prefit" – treatment technique was developed within the company without any chemical preservatives using in essence, only water, vapour and heat, thus guaranteeing that the garments will not shrink even in the dryer at high temperatures.
In terms of quality, the T’s practically have no room for improvement. The T-shirt line has thusly been named “T-shirt Gold". The sales in Germany have reached exclusive stores and discerning customers such as Joschka Fischer (“... finally a decent T-shirt”).
First collection of T-shirts for ladies
Our first collection of ladies T’s, “Marie Luise”, is released.

Due to a peak performance in workmanship the fabric is endowed with a unusually high natural elasticity and dimensional stability.
